About this event

St. Paul’s will host a drop-off donation drive to support S.P.E.N.D. (St. Paul’s Essential Needs Drive) now through December 11th. Community members are encouraged to donate new, unopened essentials, including blankets, socks, and personal hygiene products. Donations can be dropped off at St. Paul’s PACE North County, St. Paul’s PACE Reasner, St. Paul’s PACE Nemeth, and St. Paul’s PACE Akaloa. The donated items will support vulnerable older adults served by St. Paul’s PACE throughout San Diego County.

St. Paul’s S.P.E.N.D. shines a light on the growing gap between a seniors’ fixed income and the rising cost of living, and channels community support into the most-needed everyday items. Learn more at www.stpaulspace.org/spend.

“During the holidays, we want every older adult in our community to feel cared for and supported,” said Aaliyah Venberg, Day Center Manager at PACE Reasner in downtown San Diego. “For many of the seniors we serve, everyday essentials can make a meaningful difference in their comfort and well-being. Through S.P.E.N.D., our community has an opportunity to come together, give back, and remind these older adults that they are not forgotten.”

Thousands of older adults in San Diego County live below the actual cost of living and struggle to cover basics like housing, food, and medications. Many do not meet federal poverty thresholds and go without essential living items. Donations through S.P.E.N.D. help close that gap for the seniors in St. Paul’s care this winter.
